‘Ghosts in Armour’ is a unique international art project which examines the declining European steel industry.
50 Artists and collaborators from across Europe have been invited to visit three of the key industrial areas (South Wales, UK / Basque Region, Spain / the Ruhr area, Germany) and to create responses that explore both the remaining post industrial landscapes and the associated memories of the communities tied to these spaces in flux.
The project was conceived and developed by members of the South Wales based Photographic Co-operative Punctum Photographic and is curated by the Spanish photojournalist Janire Najera and the British photospherical artist Matt Wright.

‘Ghosts in Armour’ en un proyecto artístico multidisciplinar que examina el decline de la industria pesada en Europa.
50 artistas y colaboradores con diferentes nacionalidades han sido invitados a visitar tres àreas industriales clave en el pasado industrial de nuestro continente, Gales, UK; País Vasco y Ruhr, Alemania. Estos artistas crearàn diversas propuestas explorando las ruinas del paisaje industrial y los recuerdos asociados a estos espacios colaborando con los ex-trabajadores y vecinos de estas áreas.
El proyecto fue concebido y desarrollado por miembros de la Cooperativa de Fotógrafos galesa Punctum Photographic. La fotoperiodista española Janire Nájera y el artista visual británico Matt Wright son los comisarios de ‘Ghosts in Armour'.

‘Ghosts in Armour’ ist ein einzigartiges internationales Kunstprojekt, welches den Niedergang der Europäischen Stahlindustrie untersucht.
50 Künstler und Kollaboratoren aus ganz Europa sind eingeladen drei der bedeutenden Industriegebiete (Südwales, Grossbritanien / Baskenland, Spanien / Ruhrgebiet, Deutschland) zu besuchen und kreative Antworten zu schaffen, die sowohl die zurückbleibende postindustrielle Landschaft als auch die verbundenen Errinnerungen der Gemeinschaften in diesen sich verändernden Gegenden.
Das Projekt wurde ins Leben gerufen und entwickelt von Mitgliedern der im Süden von Wales ansässigen Kooperative von Fotografen Punctum Photographic. Die Kuratoren sind die spanische Fotojournalistin Janire Najera und der britische Fotokünstler Matt Wright.
